Marine assurance audit is how an operator establishes, before commitment, that a unit is fit for the work. Pre-hire and pre-mobilisation audits examine the vessel against the rules, regulations and standards the project is actually held to — SOLAS and MARPOL, the ISM and ISPS Codes, the Maritime Labour Convention, class requirements, and the operator's own acceptance criteria — and produce a report defining any deficiency that would not be acceptable at the required standard.
Assurance without risk assessment is incomplete. Structured HAZID and HAZOP work, supported by quantitative assessment where the exposure justifies it, gives a project the insight to build a workable package rather than discovering constraints in the field. We also carry out incident investigation and root cause analysis, and prepare the emergency response and bridging documentation that reconciles the safety management systems of vessel, contractor and operator into one workable set of arrangements for the duration of the campaign.
